Today was the big day; on Sam's three different calenders (work, her planner, and the one hanging in her kitchen) all had this day circled in bright pink highlighter. She had been planning for weeks, making sure that all of her things were boxed up, the new tenant was lined up, and that the apartment was cleaned up. Jay had tried to help, but Sam was so stressed with work, and taking care of her stuff that they mutually agreed it would be better if she took care of it by herself.
The boxes had been packed into the truck earlier that morning, and it had probably reached Jay's house already. Even now, Sam had to admit that she was slightly surprised that Jay lived in a house rather than an apartment. Sam adored her apartment--it held many great memories for her--but it was obvious that she should move in with Jay, since he had the bigger place. It would be easier to get out of her apartment than it would be for him to get out of his house. And she liked the place, and was looking forward to the extra space it would provide. It was certainly going to get full, with all of her stuff, as well as Jay's massive collection of stuff.
Sam glanced over her last post-it note list that was on the fridge, making sure that she had done everything she needed to before she headed over to Jay's place. As she pulled it off the fridge and crumpled up the little piece of yellow paper, Sam's hands shook slightly. Why was she nervous? It wasn't like she hadn't stayed at Jay's place countless times before. Even for week long stretches, when it was just easier to go there than her own place.
But the fact was, she was still nervous. If Jay could see her now, she knew he would be teasing her for worrying too much, but Sam couldn't help it. She was a worrier, no matter what people did to try and prevent it. It certainly didn't help that there were some issues with one of the traveling exhibits she had created; one of the museums had damaged a piece, though not horribly so. Regardless, damage was damage, and it was taking a lot of effort on her part to try and please all parties that were involved.
Sam was wearing her lazy clothes, a pair of faded and comfortable jeans with an old museum hoodie. Her hair was tied back, and her favorite pair of sneakers were on her feet. One last look around the apartment told her there was nothing left to be done, so Sam grabbed her purse and decided to grab a coffee before she went to Jay's.
Not like she was stalling or anything...

It was a rare day off for Sam and she decided to head to a local, and small, bookstore that also had a cute coffee shop inside. She hadn't had a lot of time off lately, but she felt like buying a few books to keep around her place when she could read them. Being swamped with work made Sam want to find a couple of light, fluffy fantasy novels that she could read in a couple of hours, or not worry about if she didn't finish them. So, here she was, wandering through the aisles, picking up books that had interesting covers. While not the best way of perusing, Sam didn't exactly have a list of recommendations to choose from.
Mumbling titles and author names quietly to herself, Sam walked slowly down the aisle, keeping an eye on the people around her. Anytime she saw someone eagerly take a book, she grabbed a copy for herself and scanned the back. So far, only one of five books had been something interesting, and she was starting to wish her friends read more. Well, they read plenty, but it usually had to do with work. Most of her friends either worked at the museum with her, or were professors at the local university.
As she turned the corner, Sam barely avoided walking into a taller man. All she could see was a flash of messy brown hair as she stumbled into a bookshelf in an effort to avoid the other person.
